Selected Project Experiences:
- Provided Fleet Maintenance and Technical Guidance on an operational audit of the United Nations Food Relief Truck Operation In Ethiopia for the U.S. Agency for International Development (State Department).
- Developed and conducted a Preventive and Predictive Maintenance workshop for the Road Work Equipment Managers of the Burlington Northern Railroad.
- Developed and conducted a series of workshops on Maintenance Management and Computerizing Maintenance for the Equipment Maintenance Council.
- Developed and conducted a Maintenance Management seminar for the Society of Automotive Engineers.
- Staffed the Director of Maintenance function for Bus Lease while evaluating the job function and responsibilities. Recruited a new Director of Maintenance.
- Assessed the total Corporate Fleet Maintenance capability for Overnite Transportation Company. Identified opportunities for improvements in the expansion of a new vehicle maintenance reporting system, computerized inventory control and the work-order using the A.T.A. Vehicle Maintenance Reporting System.
- Performed diagnostic review of the Fleet Management Maintenance and Maintenance Reporting Systems for the County of Sarasota, Florida. Developed a program to expand the maintenance function to multiple shifts scheduling PM work to the second shift, freeing up vehicles for daytime use.
- Conducted an in depth study of the Tire Problems for Willow Distributors (largest Coors distributor). Developed a new program of tire sizing, purchasing, servicing, and capping, which reduced the tire cost and improved tire life. Road tire failures and fleet delays were reduced by over 60%.
- Evaluated the Maintenance System requirements and Corporate Road Fueling Program for Burlington Northern Motor Carrier and recommended a corporate vehicle maintenance reporting system, hardware requirements and systems training. Reviewed road fueling needs and negotiated a national road fuel-purchasing program to support a fleet of 1800 tractors.
- Developed and presented a series of Freight Traffic and Vehicle Fleet workshops for IIR of Singapore. Presented the workshops in Hong Kong, Singapore, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpar, Auckland, N.Z., Melbourne and Sydney, Australia.
- Staffed, Operated and Controlled the Maintenance Department for a solid waste company in San Antonio, Texas (Industrial Disposal Service). Successfully reduced maintenance cost. Dramatically reduced out of service vehicles to one per day. Improved scheduled and planned maintenance. Hired and trained new mechanics, supervisors and a director of maintenance.
- Presented a Maintenance and Equipment session for the Association of Peru Maintenance in Lima, Peru.
- Developed and conducted a Maintenance Management workshop with Roy Jorgensen and Associates for the members of the Ethiopian Freight Transport Corporation (EFTC). Identified vehicle specification needs, improved planned maintenance programs and possible computerized maintenance programs.
- Conducted Maintenance System audit of the main fleet repair facilities for the Los Alamos Laboratories (ZIA Corporation). Recommended a new and improved work order system and a computerized maintenance reporting system. Redesigned the parts rooms, lunchrooms and office locations to facilitate and improved parts room sizing and layout.
- Team Leader for the United Nations Technical Review Mission of the U.N. Trucking Operation in Ethiopia. Evaluate the existing Maintenance for the 339-truck operation. Assess the present system of Accounting, Cost Controls and Financial Management. Review the overall organization structure, traffic system, vehicle deployment, monitoring and truck performance. Make recommendations to correct the truck operations within the existing constraints in Ethiopia. Establish an implementation schedule and prepare new job descriptions.
- Team leader for the U.S. State Dept. (U.S. AID-OFDA) to the Sudan to assess the Transport System and Capacity used in crossed border delivery of food relief into drought stricken Eritrea and Tigray in Ethiopia. Determine the cost and availability of trucks to move relief supplies from Port Sudan to the Ethiopian border and beyond. Analyze how much food aid can be moved under various scenarios. Confirm warehouse capacities from Port Sudan to the border.
- Provided the Maintenance and Equipment evaluation and review of the NY-NJ Port Authority fleet and equipment study for Ernst & Young.
- Evaluated the Weyerhaeuser Company internal Best-In-Class Corporate Fleet Study. Recommended major areas for the proposed new fleet and equipment department.
- Conducted a Fleet Maintenance audit and Evaluation of the Goodway over the road trucking operation. Recommended 14 areas to improve the equipment scheduling, warranty, tires and management information system.
- Reviewed the fleet Maintenance Practices for the Edward C. Levy Co. Recommended a new work order system, improved P.M. System, new machine and vehicle coding system and a modern equipment maintenance software system.
- Developed and presented a Transport Fleet Management Training program for Caribbean Electric Corporation.
- Conducted an Equipment and Maintenance Audit for Victory Express. Recommended improvements in tire cost, software system, establishing the Maintenance Department as a profit center, outsourcing and cost reporting.
- Developed and presented a Maintenance and Equipment Presentation for the Brazilian Society of Technology for Equipment and Maintenance in San Paulo, Brazil.
- Presented the new EMC Equipment Maintenance Standard Coding Convention to the Institute of Road Transport Engineers in Loughborough, England.
